Even though this is a tough phone, Motorola have been busy tinkering away with the insides as well. The Defy+ has seen a number of improvements over the original Defy handset. It is now 25% quicker thanks to upgrades to the CPU and 512MB of RAM. You will also find a 5 megapixel camera (that work’s under water) with a flash, zoom and auto focus.

The Defy+ also has a huge 1700 mAh capacity battery which is one of the biggest capacities to be seen in a smartphone. This will put out 8 hours of talk time or 400 hours of standby time. It’s about time manufacturers started developing higher capacity batteries, having to charge your phone everyday is annoying.

There have been whisperings of the Motorola Atrix 2 online for a while now, but now we can confirm all of the juicy details of the upcoming handset.

Although it hasn’t been officially announced yet, someone managed to get a sneak peak at the new handset. The handset looks a lot thinner than the original Atrix and slightly wider/taller although it still has a 4.3inch display like the original Atrix. The screen has received an upgrade though and now uses the common RGB layout instead of the weird looking PenTile matrix layout the original had.

In the heart of the Atrix 2 is a dual core 1 GHz processor with a dedicated PowerVR SGX 540 graphics processor. All of this is supported by 1GB of RAM so the handset should be an absolute dream to use, especially with demanding applications and games. The handset kind of reminds of the Motorola Droid Bionic a bit if I’m honest!

There is also a HDMI port, USB port, MicroSD card slot and 8GB of built in memory. It will also be compatible with the original Atrix WebTop dock so if you have the original Atrix it should just be plug and play!

Android 2.3.5 was present on the leaked handset and of course with no official announcement yet, we have no idea when the Atrix 2 will be released. There are more details at TheVerge.

Motorola have had a busy time recently with announcing new handsets and been bought by Google! Now the dust is beginning to settle we can confirm the Motorola Droid Bionic release date has been scheduled in for September 8th release in the UK.

Although there hasn’t been a whisper about how much the Droid Bionic is likely to cost, as with most smartphones you will be able to pick it up free on contract no doubt.

The Motorola Droid Bionic is actually quite an interesting handset. Featuring a dual core 1 GHz processor, 512MB ram and an 8MP camera the Droid Bionic is essentially an upgraded Atrix. Just like the Atrix you will also be able to plug it into the lapdock station which instantly transforms the phone into a full on netbook.

I mentioned the other day that I believe the next step in mobile evolution is the merging of smartphones with laptops and the Droid Bionic is certainly on the right track. Who knows where we will be in a couple of years time, especially when you consider that mobile phones will be more powerful than the Playstation 3 in the very near future!

When Motorola first announced the Atrix with its laptop dock, I was quite excited. Use your phone as a phone, and when you need a full blown laptop experience you could just plug it into the laptop dock.

Unfortunately it never really took off, the Atrix didn’t carry the best specification and the laptop dock cost the same as a cheap standalone netbook.

Well, Motorola are going to have another punt at this unique format with the Droid Bionic. Featuring a dual core 1Ghz processor, 512MB ram and an 8 megapixel camera the new and improved handset will also have support for the laptop dock seen on the Atrix.

Motorola will also be introducing the WebTop adapter which will allow you to use any HDMI monitor/USB keyboard with the handset. This will be a cheaper alternative to the main laptop dock which was well over priced for the Atrix.

I truly believe that mobile phones will replace our laptops one day and Motorola were making the very first steps towards that with the Atrix. Digital convergence has been happening in the mobile world for years now, they have already replaced my camera, sat nav and MP3 player so why stop there?

Who knows, now that Google owns Motorola we might see a future handset that runs Android on the phone, and Chrome OS when plugged into a laptop dock. That would certainly give Apple a run for its money, no doubt someone at Google is already working on it!

Details of Motorola’s upcoming flagship handset have leaked online. The Motorola Droid HD will run the latest version of Android and features a huge 4.5″ display!

On the rear of the handset is an 8MP digital camera which can record video in full 1080P HD. Based on that you can be pretty sure that the handset will run a dual core CPU to handle that kind of demand. There will also be a front facing camera for video calls, which you will use all the time.

What has everyone excited though is the possibility of a HD display. It is thought that the Motorola Droid HD will feature a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution (720P) which would make it the best mobile display to date. However it is possible we might end up with a similar display to the Atrix which only pushes out 960 x 540 pixels.

There has been no official announcement of the handset, and release date/pricing is still a mystery. Stay tuned for more details on the handset as we get them!

Motorola have announced they will be releasing an update to the life proof Defy that had huge success last year. The new handset is called the Motorola Defy+ and has received a number of upgrades.

The original Defy was a superb handset, offering great performance while been sturdy and able to withstand some serious punishment with its water, scratch and dust resistant design. If you have ever dropped your phone down the toilet, then the Defy might be for you.

The new Motorola Defy+ will feature an upgraded 1 GHz processor which makes it 25% faster than the original. It will also feature Google Android 2.3 which offers much better battery life and faster performance all round.

Like the original Defy, the Defy+ will be ‘life proof’ and be able to withstand been dropped in water or thrown out of a moving car.

In essence Motorola have taken a fantastic handset, and made it even better! Although no release date or pricing has been announced for the UK market just yet, I would expect to see it launch in the coming months.

There have been lots of blurry details about the Milestone 3 for a while that has allowed us to build a picture of what the handset will be ahead of its release. However for the first time we can fully confirm the Milestone 3 specifications and provide a high resolution image of Motorola’s new handset.

The Motorola Milestone 3 (Droid 3) will feature a 4″ qHD screen, 8 megapixel camera, dual core OMAP 4430 processor, 512mb of ram, 1500 mAh battery and HDMI out. I would have thought that Motorola would include a minimum of 768mb ram given the dual core processing power. Having just 512mb of ram may be a limiting factor in the performance of the processor but we will have to wait until it’s released to see if that is the case.

The Motorola Milestone 3 will have the latest version of Android Gingerbread and should be released sometime in July as the Motorola Droid 3 in the states and sometime in August in the UK as the Milestone 3.

The Milestone 3 (known as the Droid 3 in the US) is set to feature a 4inch qHD display powered by a dual core processor. There will also be an 8 megapixel camera and a front facing camera for video calls. There will also be a dedicated HDMI port which will make it easier to watch content on the big screen direct from the handset.

The leaked image also reveals a larger keyboard with an additional row of keys. Personally I love handsets with full QWERTY keyboards as a former Blackberry user and now a HTC Desire Z user so the Milestone 3 has my attention.

There haven’t been any further details leaked about the Milestone 3 yet but we will be keeping a close eye on this one!

The Milestone 2 was one of the best Android based handsets to be released in it’s time, and it looks like Motorola could be onto a winner with the addition of the Milestone 3.

With those kind of specifications the Droid X2 will be able to compete with he likes of the Samsung Galaxy S 2 and HTC Sensation. I’m actually quite impressed by Motorola! Inside there is the 1ghz dual core Tegra 2 processor backed up with 512MB ram, 8GB memory, 8 megapixel camera, 4.3inch qHD display, Android 2.2 (update to 2.3 available), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and 1080P HDMI out! There’s also a MicroSD card slot with can accept up to 32GB cards.

There’s been no rumblings about price or release date yet, but it would appear that the device has shown up in Verizon’s systems state side so its release could just be around the corner. I would expect the Droid X2 to be priced around the £450 mark sim free when it launches, but don’t quote me on that!

The Atrix is a breath of fresh air in the already crowded smartphone marketplace and Orange have the UK exclusive on the handset.

Well Orange have made good on their promise and the Atrix is now available to buy with next day delivery thrown in! You can get the handset free of charge on a £35 tariff which gives you 600 minutes, unlimited text and data allowances.

If your an existing Orange customer and upgrade to the Atrix this month they will also throw in a £130 worth of goodies which include a remote control, mouse, HD multimedia dock and keyboard!

Spec’s wise the Atrix rocks a 4 inch display, 1GHZ dual core Tegra 2 processor, 5 megapixel camera and 16GB of memory. The only drawback is the fact it runs Android 2.2 but Motorola assure us an update is on the way!

Unfortunately many networks have chosen not to range the handset as part of their contract offerings before Christmas, and O2 and T-Mobile both tested and rejected the handset earlier this year.   However Expansys have secured an exclusive on the Motorola Milestone Sim Free and will recieve stock on the 4th December and make it available to customers on the 7th at a price of £449.99.  It is already listed on the expansys site for pre-order

However, ElectricPig have reported that the first Motorola Milestone Contract has already shown its face at expansys as well with T-Mobile.  It comes with 700 minutes, unlimited text and data across 18 months for £35 per month with a handset cost of just £49.99
