As of 9am this morning, the LG Optimus 3D is now available to order. It just switched its status from Coming Soon to Available and is available to order for delivery tomorrow throughout the UK.

The LG Optimus 3D has suffered a number of delays, but now it’s going to be available one week before its official release.

The LG Optimus 3D is the first 3D mobile phone and uses the same technology that is found in the Nintendo 3DS. LG are looking to capture the 3D mobile phone market early with its 3D HD video recording capabilitys. The handset features a 1Ghz dual core processor, 512MB ram, 8GB internal storage and dual 5 megapixel cameras.

What is interesting about the LG Optimus 3D though is its unique Tri-Dual technology. Essentially what this does is provide dual core, dual channel and dual memory working in sync with each other to deliver a fast and exciting mobile experience.

The phone was originally set for a June release, which slipped to mid July – but now Carphone Warehouse will be dispatching the handset from this Friday the 1st of July. Other stores will begin dispatching orders from the 6th July.

LG are set to release the world’s first 3D smartphone in the next couple of weeks, so I thought now would be a good time to give you all a reminder of the gory details!

The LG Optimus 3D has a very impressive hardware specification and takes advantage of LG’s unique ‘Tri-Dual’ technology. This provides dual core, dual channel and dual memory which sets it apart from other dual core smartphones as Tri-Dual offers a significant performance increase.

There is also 512MB of ram on board, it was originally thought that the Optimus 3D had 4GB of RAM but it turns out people were reading 4Gb (gigabits) as 4GB (gigabytes). LG have since confirmed this to clear up and confusion!

The biggest selling point for the phone is it’s 3D features. The 4.3″ 3D display sets the perfect stage for a three dimensional mobile world. LG have also included dual 5 megapixel cameras which are capable of recording 2D video in 1080P and 3D video in 720P high definition.

There are of course the standard features such as Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth. There are also a range of sensors such as a Gyro, Accelerometer and proximity sensor.

At long last Amazon UK have updated it’s listing with new information and pricing for the phone.

It is set for release on the 20th June at a staggering £599.99! I wouldn’t recommend you hit the order button as it is available cheaper else where, check out the sim free price comparison and contract deals at the end of this post and you could save yourself over £100.

Hopefully Amazon stay true to their word with the release date. T-Mobile confirmed the handset would be available in June, but Three and Play state July so we will have to wait and see

The LG Optimus 3D was dubbed as the first 3D handsets to be released, but it has seen a few delays and the new HTC Sensation might beat it to the market! The handset also features a dual 5 megapixel camera which is capable of capturing 3D images and 3D HD video.

I managed to have a quick play with the LG Optimus 3D at The Gadget Show and I was very impressed with the bright and crisp 4.3 inch display. There wasn’t much 3D content to play with, but it looked very promising and if its anything like the Nintendo 3DS then LG are on to a winner!

I’ll be keeping an eye out for the UK release date, and will update the LG Optimus 3D deals page with the best offers as well as the LG Optimus 3D contract page when they are available!

The handset was made widely available in March this year and features the Tegra 2 dual core 1Ghz processor with a huge 4 inch display. Backing that huge processing power up is Google Android, an 8 MP camera and front facing 1.3 MP as well as the usually bells and whistles we find on smartphones these days.

LG must be pleased with their success, and I’m sure rivals such as HTC are already gearing up to set their own world record.

However, online retailer Clove have stated that the handset won’t be available until the 6th of June! I dont know who to believe, perhaps Play and Expansys are yet to update their pages with the later date, or perhaps Clove have got it all wrong.

Will we see the handset launch in the UK next week?

On the bright side, there are already pre-release price wars on the rise. Play have it listed for £515 sim free, but Clove will be dropping it out the door at £454.80 which is quite a lot cheaper! Although it will be available free of charge on a range of contracts.
