When Nintendo first launched in 1996 on the original Gameboy, it took the world by storm. Since then it has become one of the most successful video game franchise in the world and have sold over 200 million copies of the various games.

At long last Nintendo have clicked on that mobile gaming is the future and you will be able to catch em all on your Android or iOS based device. Although no specific details about the games have been released, they will be available this year. It would be interesting to see some kind of mobile Pokémon MMORPG taking advantage of geo location, social networking and the other sensors found in modern smartphones.

Nintendo have recently launched their latest handheld console the 3DS. However sales of the device have been slow in comparison to that of the original DS and DS lite. I imagine a big reason for this is people don’t see the need to shell out £250 on a handheld gaming device when they could just use the phone they already have.

Releasing exclusive titles onto other platforms though, could spell the end for Nintendo’s mobile hardware business. Many people would buy a Nintendo console just to play games such as Mario, Pokémon and Zelda. Sega suffered a similar fate with the Dreamcast in March 2001 when they withdrew from the console hardware business to focus on making great games.

Whatever happens, Pokémon is coming to Android and iOS later this year!!!

It has been developed by OmniVision and is known as the OmniBSI-2 image sensor.

Bringing 1080p video recording to the iPhone is certainly a logical step, however this goes against previous iPhone 5 rumours which suggested an 8 megapixel camera would be present.

Which would you prefer, 8 megapixel 720p or 5 megapixel 1080p? Personally I want to see a blend of both! Be sure to keep an eye out for iPhone 5 deals as and when they are available.

Update: It seems the iPhone 5 rumours were not true as Apple have just announced the iPhone 4S and these great iPhone 4S deals.

Reduced size of the Cache

No longer syncs the data with iTunes

Deletes the cache completely when Location Services is turned off

No longer tracks users when they have disabled Location Services

Jump over to iTunes and grab the update now! Its good to say Apple taking swift action on the issue for a change!

It’s taken Apple a while to respond to accusations that it is tracking its users. But at long last they have finally responded and been kind enough to address the problem directly with a Q&A on their website.

According to Steve Jobs, Apple aren’t tracking the location of its users or iPhones, so what on earth are they up to?

What they are really doing, is building a database of Wi-Fi hotspots and mobile towers which in turn makes it easier for you to find a signal when you need it. The data that they collect allows them to do this in seconds instead of minutes.

Any data that is sent back to Apple is completely anonymous and sent in an encrypted form to ensure you cannot be personally identified.

However there is still a privacy problem afoot, when you turn off Location Services the iPhone still uses location data to update its Wi-Fi and mobile tower data. According to Apple this is a bug and it will be fixed in the next update.

Privacy has been of great concern this week, especially with the whole Sony network hack malarkey! Looks like Apple have dodged a silver bullet.

It’s recently come to light that the iPhone is constantly saving details of its location at all times along with time stamps. This data then gets sync’d to your computer everytime you plug it in.

This new ‘feature’ was added at some point after the update to iOS4 and Apple have been logging exactly where you have been and when you have been there.

This is a massive privacy problem as once the data has been transferred to your computer, it could be very easy for someone to access without your permission.

This has been discovered by two developers, Alasdair Allan and Pete Warden who say that Apple is logging your location with permission and isn’t taking the neccessary steps to secure that data once it has been recorded.

In fact, the guys have launched their own application which you can use to visualize the data and draw a map of exactly where you have been and when using the data that is already on your handset/computer.

Don’t believe us? Well then go see for yourself. Needless to say, Apple are yet to respond.

Update: Apple have finally responded to the claims

I’m sure you know all about the iPhone 4 antenna saga which placed egg on the faces of the Apple boys. After all they did say they would reinvent the phone, which they did! They just forgot the phone part.

Anyway, Apple started sending out free cases as a quick fix to the problem but now rumours are floating about that Apple have fixed the hardware problem and will be released a revised version of the iPhone 4 on September 30th.

Now this is just a rumour at the moment which started when Marco Quartorze from Telcol (the mexican iPhone 4 carrier) claimed a revised version of the iPhone fixes these problems.

I’m not sure what to make of the rumour, Apple had a huge music event this past Wednesday and didn’t mention anything to do with a new iPhone 4.

The question remains though, if Apple do released an updated iPhone 4 – will existing owners get a free replacement? I sure hope so!
